Product Description
The standard rack mount allows significant side to side movement of the steering rack both when turning the steering wheel, and when driving on uneven surfaces, this causes torque steer and a loss of steering response.
Torque steer and vague steering was an issue that the motoring press raised when the new 900 model was released and reviewed in Europe, back in 1994. SAAB themselves have never offered a fix to counter any of the criticisms raised at that time. After owing many new 900 models and covering thousands of miles we decided to address the issue for ourselves. As a result of this, we offer a solid alloy clamp and bulkhead strut-brace to improve steering precision and give a 50% reduction in torque steer. The Alloy Clamp is machined from billet aluminium and is anodised for protection. To brace the steering rack further, the stainless-steel brace bar is fitted to retain the whole assembly securely to the chassis leg.
The transformation is nothing short of incredible, giving far sharper steering precision. High speed motorway driving is far more confidence inspiring, and requires less concentration to hold the vehicle to a set course. So far, we have only received the most positive comments for this kit – upon fitting we guarantee you will be impressed. Not to be confused with cheap imitation kits available from the USA, which are poor fitting and ineffective.
BEWARE OF IMITATIONS, THERE IS A SIMILAR RACK BRACE CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET WHICH HAS BEEN MACHINED INCORRECTLY AND DOES NOT FIT THE RACK TIGHTLY – THESE KITS ARE BLUE IN COLOUR AND ARE NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE GENUINE ARTICLE FROM ABBOTT RACING.
